What Is Radar and Why Do I Need to Be Geolocated?
Why Geolocation Matters
Radar is the trusted technology we use to confirm that you're physically located in Ontario, where Bally Bet is fully licensed and regulated by iGaming Ontario (iGO). It performs a quick geolocation check when you try to play a real-money casino game or place a bet—helping us comply with provincial rules while keeping your experience smooth and secure.
What Is Geolocation?
Geolocation is the process of verifying your physical location through your device:
- Desktop/Laptop: Requires the Radar plugin to be installed, which works alongside your browser to verify your location.
- Mobile App: GPS, WiFi, and network signals are used to confirm your location automatically.
- Mobile Web Browser: Location is verified using GPS, Wi-Fi, and network signals, but you'll also need to install GeoGuard.
Note: When you launch a real-money casino game or place a wager, this check runs automatically.
What Do I Need to Do?
Desktop & Laptop
- Log in to your account.
- When prompted, download and install the Radar plugin.
To enable browser Location Permissions manually:
- Open your browser settings.
- Go to Site Settings.
- Select Location.
- Allow location access for the site.
Please ensure:
- Location Permissions are enabled on your desktop/laptop.
- VPNs and proxy services are disabled.
- Your browser is up to date.
Mobile App
iOS (iPhone/iPad)
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
- Ensure Location Services is turned on.
- Scroll down and find the Bally Bet app.
- Select While Using the App.
Android
- Go to Settings > Location and ensure Location is turned on.
- Go to Settings > Apps > Bally Bet > Permissions > Location.
- Select Allow only while using the app.
Please ensure:
- WiFi and Location Services are enabled on your device.
- VPNs and proxy services are disabled.
- App is on the latest version.
Mobile Web Browser
If you are using the mobile web to play on the site, you will need to install GeoGuard. Please visit our FAQ page regarding GeoGuard for more information.
You will need to allow location permissions when/if prompted, or see above instructions on how to do it manually.
What Can I Do Without Geolocation?
You can browse the site, manage your account, and make deposits or withdrawals from anywhere. However, wagering and gameplay are only available if you are physically located in Ontario.
Troubleshooting & Important Notes
If your location cannot be verified, try the following:
- Confirm location permissions are enabled on your device
- Refresh or restart your browser
- Restart your device
- Reinstall the app
- Ensure you're using the latest version of Chrome or Safari
Please note: You must be physically located in Ontario to access gameplay and wagering. VPNs, proxies, remote desktop software, or any location-masking tools must be disabled, as they will prevent verification.
