Updated Location Access Process for Chrome and Other Browsers
Update on Location Access for Desktop Browsers
We want to let you know about a small but important change in how location data is accessed when using our service on a desktop browser. This applies to Google Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers like Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Brave. The good news? It’s quick, easy, and your security remains fully protected. Here’s what you need to know:
What’s changing?
Starting October 20, 2025, with the release of Chrome version 142, users on desktop (macOS and Windows) will see a new prompt requesting Local Network Access when using location-based features. This allows your browser to continue retrieving your location securely. The prompt appears only once—after you grant access, you will not be asked again.
What do I need to do?
When you see the permission prompt, simply click “Allow” to grant local network access. Your browser will remember your choice, so you won’t need to do this again.
Is this safe?
Yes! Granting this permission only enables location services for our website. It does not impact your device or the security of your local network.
What happens if I click “Block” by mistake?
If you accidentally block access, your browser won’t be able to determine your location. To restore access, follow these steps:
- Click the site information icon (next to the website address in your browser).
- Select “Site Settings”.
- Scroll to “Local Network Access”.
- Change the setting to “Allow”.
Do I need to reinstall anything?
No. There’s no need to reinstall anything. Just grant permission when prompted, and everything should work as expected.
